Gate of Heaven Church (first) is dedicated.

Architect: Patrick Keeley. The church is located at 616 East Fourth Street. The parish was founded in 1863. Rev. James Sullivan is the first pastor. The building is damaged by a fire on March 4, 1895. It is replaced by a new church in 1912.* The original building is converted to a parish hall and then into 24 apartments in 2013.
